temperature-land-of-the-dragons
Temperature Land of the Dragons cross stitch pattern - maximum temperatures version

The Temperature Land of the Dragons cross stitch pattern booklets contain the charts and full instructions to cross stitch your own fantasy adventure in colours representing the maximum daily temperatures in your part of the world, through an entire year.

As you stitch the pattern, your own mystical world will grow, featuring Dragons, castles, shields, swords, potion bottles, keys, forest trees, toadstools and many other motifs. A pathway of stepping stones runs through the pattern, forming a wiggly line from 1st January to where the adventurer ends the year on 31st December, to journey into the new year.

Each row of the pattern represents one month of the year, with each motif stitched in the colour corresponding to the maximum temperature of one day. In the centre you'll stitch the year date you are stitching for, and your location. A full set of numbers and two sets of alphabets are included so you can personalise your piece.

This is the version of the pattern for maximum daily temperatures only. For the pattern version for maximum AND minimum temperatures, please click here.

The pattern is designed to be stitched on dark fabric, such as black or navy blue.

The images show example pieces based on temperatures in Southampton, UK - the colour distribution in your piece will be different according to the temperatures in your area and in your year, so every piece stitched will be unique.

Separate instruction booklets are included for both leap years and non-leap years, so you can easily stitch for any year.

Very comprehensive instructions are included, explaining how to adapt the temperature colour ranges to almost anywhere in the world. You don't need to worry if you live in a hot or cold climate, or if the temperature goes between extremes - you will adapt the colours to your own temperature range, so that you will still stitch with colours across the rainbow palette. You can use either Fahrenheit or Celsius scales for your temperatures.

If you don't live in a major populated area you might want to check that your area is covered by temperature websites, unless you are recording temperatures yourself. I recommend looking at:
www.accuweather.com
www.wunderground.com
www.timeanddate.com
On AccuWeather, if you search for your location and click on “monthly”, it will give you temperatures for all the months of the current year and the year before. In the settings (top right of the website) you can change between Fahrenheit and Celsius. If you want to go further back than the previous year, perhaps to commemorate a special year, both Time and Date and Weather Underground give temperatures going much further back. Time and Date allows you to choose Fahrenheit or Celsius.

Please do join us in the Climbing Goat Designs stitchers Facebook group to share your progress!

The stitched area of the finished piece is: 174 stitches wide x 174 stitches high
On 14 count fabric this is approximately 12.4 x 12.4 inches or 31.6 x 31.6 cm
On 16 count fabric this is approximately 10.9 x 10.9 inches or 27.6 x 27.6 cm

The temperature pattern element uses full cross stitches only.
