African Sunset Alphabet cross stitch pattern - Scenic Alphabets Collection
These 20 page PDF booklets contain all the patterns and information you need to cross stitch this beautiful African Sunset alphabet. Each letter is filled with scenes of a rich sunset, with some letters featuring baobab trees or African animals. The alphabet can be stitched as one complete piece, or the letters can be arranged to form any word or name of your choice. Full instructions are given for both options. It makes a lovely birth sampler, wedding gift, or home decoration. Individual letters could be used as initials on cards or gift tags. A small backstitch alphabet is also included to add birth details or any other text below the main letters, along with a blank grid on which to draft letter arrangements.
Two versions are included, one with colour blocks and symbols for the letter charts, and one with black and white symbols. The black and white chart does have some colour elsewhere in the booklet, but can be printed fully in black and white using the appropriate print setting. You also receive a four page PDF of cross stitch instructions.
The African Sunset alphabet has 10 DMC colours and uses only full cross stitches and backstitch. The accompanying small backstitch alphabet uses only full backstitches, with French knots for the dots of "i" and "j".
The design size of the complete alphabet is 218 x 227 stitches. On 14 count aida this translates to a stitched area size of approximately 15.6 x 16.2 inches or 39.6 x 41.2 cm. Each individual letter is 39 stitches high. On 14 count aida this is approximately 2.8 inches or 7.1 cm. The letter widths vary between letters, and are all given in a table in the PDF.
Suitable for those with experience of cross stitch.
