Explore the World Alphabet cross stitch pattern - Scenic Alphabets Collection

Regular price £14.50 £0.00 Unit price per

These 27 page PDF booklets contain all the patterns and information you need to cross stitch this beautiful Explore the World alphabet. Each letter is filled with a different scene from around the world, with every continent included.

The alphabet can be stitched as one complete piece, or the letters can be arranged to form any word or name of your choice. Full instructions are given for both options. It makes a lovely birth sampler, wedding gift, or home decoration. Individual letters could be used as initials on cards or gift tags. A small backstitch alphabet is also included to add birth details or any other text below the main letters, along with a blank grid on which to draft letter arrangements.

Two versions are included, one with colour blocks and symbols for the letter charts, and one with black and white symbols. The black and white chart does have some colour elsewhere in the booklet, but can be printed fully in black and white using the appropriate print setting. Both booklets are split into two parts due to their file size. You also receive a four page PDF of cross stitch instructions.

A complete list of thread colours is given for the whole alphabet, and individual keys and thread lists are also given for each letter, so you know exactly which threads you need to buy. The whole alphabet has 130 DMC colours. The number of colours in individual letters varies but is generally around 9-15 colours.

The design size of the complete alphabet is 227 x 227 stitches. On 14 count aida this translates to a stitched area size of approximately 16.2 x 16.2 inches or 41.2 x 41.2 cm. Each individual letter is 39 stitches high. On 14 count aida this is approximately 2.8 inches or 7.1 cm. The letter widths vary between letters, and are all given in a table in the PDF, along with a note on the scene depicted.

The Explore the World alphabet uses only full cross stitches and backstitch. The accompanying small backstitch alphabet uses only full backstitches, with French knots for the dots of "i" and "j".

Suitable for those with experience of cross stitch.

Beautiful & clever alphabet

I couldn't resist buying this beautiful alphaet chart, and it's great quality, very clear
My current project (afghan for a baby boy) actually only needs a plain alphabet, so I will be using the outlines for this. And then thinking hard to come up with a plan to sew the World! The images and detail are beautiful, and travel is my weakness.
If the little boy has a brother or sister soon, I know the theme for their afghan that's for sure!!
