Temperature Galactic Voyage cross stitch pattern - weekly temperature pattern

Regular price £9.00 £0.00 Unit price per

The Temperature Galactic Voyage cross stitch pattern is a bit different to all my other temperature charts - it has one motif to stitch per week, rather than per day. This means the pattern will be quicker to keep up with if you're busy, whilst still making a beautiful record of the year.

The pattern has motifs of what you might see on a voyage through space - stars, galaxies, planets, a full lunar cycle (waxing from New Moon to Full Moon and waning back to New Moon), supernovae explosions, satellites and rockets. Each motif is stitched in the maximum and minimum temperature colours for the weeks they represent.

A full set of cross stitch numbers and a complete backstitch alphabet are included so that you can personalise your work.

The images show example pieces based on temperatures in Southampton, UK - the colour distribution in your piece will be different according to the temperatures in your area and in your year, so every piece stitched will be unique.

Instructions are included for both leap years and non-leap years, so you can easily stitch for any year.

The pattern is designed to be stitched on dark fabric, such as black or navy blue.

Very comprehensive instructions are included, explaining how to adapt the temperature colour ranges to almost anywhere in the world. You don't need to worry if you live in a hot or cold climate, or if the temperature goes between extremes - you will adapt the colours to your own temperature range, so that you will still stitch with colours across the rainbow palette. You can use either Fahrenheit or Celsius scales for your temperatures.

If you don't live in a major populated area you might want to check that your area is covered by temperature websites, unless you are recording temperatures yourself. I recommend looking at:
www.accuweather.com
www.wunderground.com
www.timeanddate.com
On AccuWeather, if you search for your location and click on “monthly”, it will give you temperatures for all the months of the current year and the year before. In the settings (top right of the website) you can change between Fahrenheit and Celsius. If you want to go further back than the previous year, perhaps to commemorate a special year, both Time and Date and Weather Underground give temperatures going much further back. Time and Date allows you to choose Fahrenheit or Celsius.

The stitched area of the finished piece (including personalisation) is: 113 stitches wide x 137 stitches high
On 14 count fabric this is approximately 8.1 x 9.8 inches or 20.5 x 25.0 cm
On 16 count fabric this is approximately 7.1 x 8.6 inches or 17.9 x 21.7 cm

The temperature pattern element uses only full cross stitches. The location personalisation uses full backstitches, and French knots in the i's and j's only.

The design is suitable for beginners to cross stitch (though not ideal for absolute beginners).
